The object of boxing as a sport is to test a participants self
defence and retaliatory skills in a controlled environment.

|
Boxing is the art of self defence that
provides a disciplined balance between the capability of
defending the personal structure and the ability to launch a
retaliatory strike, with the fists, at an attacker.

Contests are judged by a boxers failure to defend strikes
thrown at their target area by an opponent. The target area is
the front and sides of the head & body above the belt line.
|
There are various codes of
boxing with a number of governing bodies that set the rules and
regulations that determine the strategies and tactics as well as
the physical safety factors of that particular competition.
