Why do people Box?
Boxing, the Art of Self Defence, by use of the fists re-emerged in
the eighteenth century from the practical necessity for a person to
adequately defend theirself against thugs and thieves. The practical
necessity to repel an assailant in this 'modern age' has not
changed.

People and organisations endeavour to protect their computer
data against intruders, people of both sexes also responsibly
endeavour to learn boxing to provide themselves with personal
self protection so as not to become a statistic.
While many people learn how to box only a small
percentage compete for the same reason that people run or swim
but don't compete, 'competition is physically
and mentally demanding'
